Buy n64 Controllers

The n64 controller pretty much reinvented the production of console controllers of its era. Its revolutionary design allowed it to be held in several positions using different combinations of the d-pad, the right hand controls and the L and R buttons, or the control stick and Z trigger on the rear. The analog stick was used much more often, especially in the more popular games. Unfortunately, this analog stick became notorious for failing in aged controllers. But I digress, more on this later.

Partly due to the n64 controller, this console definitely struck a chord with the gaming types (and often the non-gaming types). The Nintendo 64 has proved to be an insanely popular console, even to this day. The like of Mario Kart and GoldenEye 007 among others, are still often brought up in conversations, shortly followed by nostalgic rants about the n64 days. The n64 controller was the first available with expansion packs such as memory cards and the once famous Rumble Pak, which added ‘haptic feedback’ to the controllers. In plain English, the Rumble Pak added vibrations to the n64 controller. The idea was to make the gameplay more engaging, vibrating during battles, collisions and other events when one would expect to be shaken up a little.

These days, the Nintendo 64 is still in demand. The good news is, they can still be found in great condition and for incredibly cheap prices. The major problem however lies in the n64 controller. The analog sticks have become infamous for slowly wearing away to completely unusable. They eventually become unresponsive to user input and/or may stick and move about randomly. If you fall into this category, never fear. There are options for n64 controller repair and plenty of companies sell new aftermarket n64 controllers that are basically as good as the real thing. If you’re more of a purist and refuse to stay from the Nintendo branded products, there are companies who refurbish controllers and resell them for good prices. We will provide you with these sources, so take a look around!

Nintendo 64 On Virtual Console!

By , October 20, 2011 8:54 pm

Now this is awesome.

The Wii not has a Virtual Console that emulates many of the other (and older) Nintendo products. This includes the N64!

I think they have finally realised how much everyone loved the 64, are we are definitely happy. Most of the classic games are available, however we feel a bit cheated. The new ‘classic’ controllers look nothing like the N64 controllers, which are clearly the best. They are wireless though, so that’s a positive.

Know that there are still options for enjoying the all time favorite N64 games :)

N64 Controller For PC – N64 Controller USB

The n64 controller was such an awesome piece, and very innovative for it’s time, so of course you want to use one with your PC.

Whether you want to just use a controller for any PC game, or if you have an emulator setup (such as Project64) so that you can relive your Mario Kart or Goldeneye days, there is a couple of standout USB conterters to get your n64 controller working on your PC. This is pretty much your only option, as there are not many n64 design controllers that plug directly to USB.

N64 Controller For PC

Your two best options are a single adapter and a double adapter.

Single n64 Controller USB

This thing is as simple as it gets. Plug in your controller in one end, and plug in the USB cord to your PC. Too easy. As an added benefit, you can also plug in a Playstation 2 controller for any of your PS2 emulation requirements! It’s cheap as hell, and both the n64 controllers and PS2 controller can usually be picked up pretty cheap too.

Here’s some of the user reviews:

“I have a MacBook Pro and not many n64 controller adaptors were for sale. I purchase this product and it works great. I didn’t even have to use a installation cd, it worked right away.”

“This does what you’d expect; it works with Project 64, and I do use it on Vista (64 bit).

You’ll have to fiddle a bit with the settings, use the N-Rage plug-in and set Analog Stick range to 100% and click on “Real N64 Range”.

I think it’s obvious, but I’ll mention… you need an actual Nintendo 64 controller to work with this.”

“This little piece was purchased to enhance my gaming experience. It work like a charm. It’s a very great device that works compatibly with Vista and works with any emulator you wish to use it for. Very great product. AAA+++”

Dual n64 Controller USB

Pretty simple, really. Plug two n64 controller’s into your PC at once. Get two people playing at once with no worries. No drivers required, just plug in the n64 controllers and plug in the USB. Awesome.

Once again it’s cheap, and bascially a must for anyone who wants to get Project64 or whatever you use running. There are reports of one one port working on a Mac, so go for a couple of the single options above instead.

Here’s some reviews:

“This is great because it allows you to use 2 controllers without wasting 2 USB ports (or even having to buy 2 adapters). My recommendation? Buy 2 of them and give yourself the option of 4 controllers active on just 2 USB ports.”

“this usb adapter is perfect! using on WIN 7 X64 bit without any lagginess or issues as it says true plug and play plug it in…. guess what it WORKS!!! if you need an n64 to usb adapter go with this, for the price it cannot be beat! also tested on all 32 and 64 bit editions of windows. both ports work without flaws. perfect way to bring back classic childhood or younger years of nostagia back to your pc.”

“I was a little skeptical at first about how well this would work, but the other high reviews really clued me in that it would probably work well; they were absolutely correct because this item works flawlessly with any Windows based computer which can configure the controller. I can’t say how it would function for a Macintosh or Linux machine, but it definitely is worth the small price for Windows play; I can finally play all my favorite games with my favorite controller!”
